US LAWMAKERS URGE APPLE AND GOOGLE TO REMOVE TIKTOK FROM APP STORES BY JANUARY 19
U.S. lawmakers are escalating efforts to have TikTok removed from Apple and Google app stores by January 19, following a federal court ruling that requires China-based ByteDance to divest the platform or face a ban.
Leading representatives, including John Moolenaar and Raja Krishnamoorthi, have urged TikTok’s CEO to comply, pointing to national security risks associated with Chinese government oversight.
In retaliation, ByteDance and TikTok have filed for an emergency injunction with the Supreme Court to halt the ban temporarily.
